Richard "Mack" Machowicz

Mack is an accomplished prime-time television veteran for multiple networks who is best known as the compelling host and producer of Discovery Channel’s hit show FutureWeapons. He was also the host of Spike TV's flagship franchise, Deadliest Warrior and appeared as a playable character in the successful video game spin-off, Deadliest Warrior: Legends. He also hosted Weapons That Changed the World for the Discovery and Military Channels and more recently the Ultimate Soldier Challenge for the History Channel. Mack also offered his military and weapons expertise as a key contributor to both of History’s megahit miniseries, America: The Story of Us and Mankind: The Story of All of Us.

In 2011, Mack co-wrote and hosted a three-part miniseries titled "Believe in Ghosts" for Ubisoft’s 2012 #1 bestselling video game “Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.” In this miniseries, Mack examined elements in the game and compared them to real life operations performed by the Special Operations Community. In 2009, he filmed a cameo appearance with Gerard Butler in the futuristic film GAMER directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, the dynamic duo that created the hit film Crank. Mack was also central in the marketing blitz of the open world “Mars Colony” video game Red Faction: Guerilla for THQ. He co-wrote and hosted five webisodes that featured him detailing the game’s weapons and game play, which also included a weekend weapon firing familiarization junket. He also hosted and developed a one-hour pilot for NBC with JD Roth of 3ball and David Broome of 25/7 called The Gift, which aired on Bravo.

In 2000, Mack authored the best-selling book Unleash The Warrior Within. The book has now been in print for 15 years, with 4 editions and 10 print runs, and has been published in four different languages. In 2011, the book was acknowledged by Dr. Phil’s show when he enthusiastically said to Mack and his audience, "This is an inspirational read!" The New York Daily News commented about the book by saying, "Machowicz takes you into the trenches of your passive mindset and pulls you out a self-assertive warrior." Publishers Weekly said, "His potent prose and no-nonsense approach will motivate [readers] to begin to behave differently.”

Mack’s work has been featured in numerous and wide ranging publications, including the Los Angeles Times, Men's Fitness, Glamour and Black Belt Magazine; it has also been showcased on Dr. Phil, ESPN, Lifetime, and CNBC's "The Big Idea." Mack has consulted with various professionals, ranging from NFL and NBA Teams to senior corporate executives and their staff.

In addition to his TV and writing career, Mack has over 25 years of experience in the martial arts, studying such systems as muay thai boxing, Jeet Kune Do, kickboxing, aikido, jujitsu, savate, arnis, and karate. He was a certified instructor in the Naval Special Warfare Combat Fighting Instructor Course, a Naval Special Warfare Scout/Sniper, and has received multiple black belts. Mack has also served as a personal protection specialist for many high profile individuals within the political arena, business world, and entertainment industry. He is a ten-year veteran of the US Navy SEALs. While a member of SEAL Team One and Two, he participated in numerous tactical operations. During his service in SEAL Team Two, he was attached to the training cadre as the Leading Petty Officer of Land, Mountain, and Arctic Warfare.
